A Creative Breakfast for Wellington In-house Lawyers

Creativity is for everyone.

In-house lawyers spend much of their working lives analysing complex issues, solving problems and providing practical advice. This special Beyond the Brief: A Creative Breakfast session offers an opportunity to step away from the demands of the day and reconnect with creativity, curiosity and fresh thinking.

Join fellow in-house lawyers before work for a unique breakfast experience with former lawyer Kate Yesberg, proudly sponsored by our valued partner MAS.

Think of it as cross-training for your brain: a chance to exercise your imagination, explore new ways of thinking, and going to work feeling refreshed, energised and inspired.

What to expect:

  • A fun, judgement-free creative experience
  • A fresh perspective on creativity and problem-solving
  • Practical tools for overcoming creative blocks
  • Connection with fellow in-house lawyers
  • Light breakfast, tea and coffee

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

    1. Distinguish between critical/analytical thinking and imaginative thinking, and describe how the two combine in creative problem-solving.
    2. Identify at least one way that low-stakes, undirected creative activity supports imaginative thinking
    3. Practise tolerating uncertainty and suspending judgement in a structured, low-risk setting
    4. Identify at least one way to apply these tools to their own practice (e.g., a current matter, a client relationship, or a change they're navigating).

Give yourself permission to start the day differently.  Join us for this unique breakfast that will help spark creativity, broaden your thinking, and leave you ready to tackle the day ahead.

Kate Yesberg is an artist and creative leadership coach. But before that, she was a lawyer and leader who felt deeply uncreative. Reconnecting with her creativity was a game-changer in her work and life. Now she helps leaders and professionals harness their creative powers to shape the world for the better.
